Call for Entry

Particulars

Deadline for Entry: May 31, 2010. Any later submissions may be accepted only by the committee publishing the brochure and depends upon their schedule.

The 18th Annual Fall Studio Tour will be held on Saturday, October 2, from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, October 3, from 12 noon to 5 pm.

Eligibility

Artists; artisans; professionals or hobbyists, living in or having their studio in Lambton County, who create original works of art and have sufficient number of works to make their studio an interesting and worthwhile stop for visitors. Artists are asked that at least 50% of the work on display be completed within the past 2 years.

Alternate Locations:

If you do not have sufficient space in your home or studio, or if your work does not take up much space, consider sharing an exhibition space with other artist(s). Please note the guidelines:

Application:

Please use the following checklist to help you to complete your application:

  1. Completed Entry Form
  2. Signed Contract (if applying using the provided document)
  3. Fees: Cheques - $90.00 payable to SLAC Studio Tour and $10.00 membership payable to Sarnia-Lambton Arts Council. Cheques will be cashed after the May 31st deadline. An application is valid only after payment has been received. Two cheques are needed.
  4. Photographs: A minimum of two photographs in high resolution digital form of your art work. These photographs are required for publicity and printing the brochures. Photographs must be included and/or permission to use those from last year given. If you need digital photos of your work, call Sue at 519-542-9469. She is willing to come to your home/studio and take the required photographs as a service of Studio Tour. A CD with two high resolution digital photographs is also acceptable.

Write a 30-50-word description of your artwork, as you would like to see it described on this website. Copy may be edited to fit the space available.

Conditions regarding Showing and Selling my artwork at the Annual Studio Tour:

  • I agree to be present and available to talk to visitors at the venue where I am displaying my work for the duration of the Studio Tour (Sat. from 10 am to 5 pm and Sun. from 12 noon to 5 pm)
  • I agree to post the Studio Tour signs I am loaned for the duration of the tour. These signs are the property of the Studio Tour and will be returned by the date set by the sign co-ordinator.
  • All work available for viewing and sale will be original in concept.
  • There will be a Vendor's Permit on the premises. (These are available, free of charge, by telephoning 1-800-265-1540 and requesting a Retail Sales Tax Vendor Permit.)
  • I will provide light refreshments for visitors and will provide an atmosphere in which the focus will be on the art and the artist. Other distractions will be kept to a minimum.
  • At least 50% of my work is new, i.e. completed within the past 2 years.
  • I understand that additional insurance coverage may be necessary and is my responsibility.
  • There may be a home occupation bylaw in my area. It is my responsibility to be aware of and comply with bylaws.
  • I agree to be part of a committee as indicated above.
