My punch-hooked rugs are best described as “paintings in wool” - vibrant and unique works of art in a functional and humble form. Often depicting my favourite subjects of landscapes and animals, my designs vary from highly detailed, realistic rugs to more simplistic, stylized ones. There is a natural beauty to the sheep’s wool I use, and I find a certain joy of discovery from the process of dyeing much of it myself. Rug making has a rich and wonderful history in Canada, and I love to carry on these rug punching traditions by crafting new original heirlooms to be enjoyed for many generations to come. I am excited to add teaching to my repertoire as a Certified Oxford Punch-Needle Instructor and feel privileged to share my passion for creating hand-punched rugs with others who wish to learn it. The stunning landscapes of Northern Ontario, where my family and I camp every summer, are fabulous inspiration for my acrylic paintings. It is wonderful to share the magical splendor of the North through my art. Location: Praill's Greenhouses Ltd. 1508 Blackwater Rd.
