Tammy Ward got her start in pottery after deciding to take a beginners throwing course at Lambton College in the spring of 2000. She continued to take courses at Lambton College over the next several years, and attended many outside workshops and courses with potters from around Southwestern Ontario . In 2007 Tammy decided to open her own studio on her farm just north of Brigden. A lifelong love of dragonflies gave rise to the name Green Dragonfly Pottery. She takes her inspiration from much of her surroundings on the farm. Surrounded by wildlife and forests, many of her designs reflect her love of nature. In the last year, Tammy has started to add more handbuilt pottery to her repertoire. Planters, Birdhouses and Birdfeeders made of pottery add an element of art to the garden. And for those with a taste for the unusual – pottery dragons add a touch of whimsy. From Dragon teapots, to pots, mugs and bowls with dragons and sea serpents attached all add a bit of fun to everyday functional pots. Tammy continues to enjoy taking new pottery courses, and learning and trying new techniques on her work. As a member of the Sarnia , Chatham and London Potters guilds, as well as Fusion and the Ontario Crafts Council and SAW, she enjoys meeting and working with fellow potters and arts enthusiasts. She has also started to show her works through many art sales in Sarnia, London, Petrolia and Chatham areas as well as Grand Bend and the Owen Sound area – and is looking towards the future and many years throwing and building pots for all to enjoy.
