Upon retirement from teaching, Shirley pursued art as a hobby, followed by taking courses at the College from various renown artists such as M. Abma, Ariel Lyons, Joe Fettingis,N.Y., Joy Orzy, Toronto, Ray Robinson, Brian Atyeo, Muriel Church. Although watercolour was her original choice, she is currently painting in acrylics and oils. Landscapes, seascapes and her pets are her favorite subjects. Motivation for several of Shirley's landscape paintings were a result of travels to Greece, Italy, France, Arizona, U.S.A. Shirley's artworks have been shown in many venues including ART in the PARK, The Gallery in the Grove, and ART at the LAKE (Riding Club), The Lawrence House, Paint Ontario and the Floyd Gibson Colour Show. Currently, Shirley belongs to the "6+1" Art Group whose members display their artworks at several other venues, such as Olive's Restaurant, Young"s Jeweleries and at both Pat Davidson"s and Bob Bailey"s Offices. In 2009, Shirley was awarded the prestigious Wolff Award for her large acrylic painting, entitled, 'BEAUTY WITHIN'. Location: DeGroot's Nursery | ![]() |
